Responsibility Clarification

Responsibility (noun): to be in a position of authority over someone and to have a duty to make certain that particular things are done. (according to the University of Cambridge)

Types of Responsibility:

Responsibility can be classified into two types. Self and social accountability can be further divided into three categories: individual responsibility, parental responsibility, and environmental responsibility.

Individual Responsibility

Individual responsibility occurs when you accept full charge for your actions, decisions, and thoughts.

Parental Responsibility

If you have parental responsibility, your main duty is to provide a home for the child, as well as to take care of them. 

Environmental Responsibility

Environmental responsibility involves protecting and improving our environment. For example, reducing energy and water usage, reducing trash, and using sustainable materials and products that save energy.

Tips to help with building the skill of being responsible:

  • Be honest with yourself and acknowledge your mistakes.

  • Avoid making excuses.

  • Own up to your mistakes and when you make a mistake.

  • Admit your mistakes and be genuine.

  • DO NOT PROCRASTINATE!

  • Take Accountability.
